If you operate a business, are an entrepreneur, or are self-employed, you may need a website. You can advertise your business on Facebook, or Instagram, or by word-of-mouth. But if you want your business to flourish, you should have a website. Here are ten reasons to have a website. Read them and think about them. Then take that next step.
1. Reliability & Credibility:
Having a website, with your domain name, projects an image of reliability and credibility. Your customers will appreciate that you have made that effort, if it is a quality website.
2. Competition Has One:
If your competition has one and you do not, who will the customer be more likely to visit? Through a website, small businesses can even compete with large corporations.
3. Advertising Your Business, Products, or Services:
A site saves you money compared to the cost of traditional advertising. You could put a 10 Word Classified Ad in a top rated magazine for $225.00. A local newspaper advertises: “…estimated ad rate is $8.00. Note: advertising rate estimates are typically for a column inch of black and white advertising space.” That’s one ad, one inch, one time, for a total possible viewers of around 6,000. On November 30 2015, the world population was approximately 7,259,902,243. There were 3,366,261,156 internet users. 1 Imagine the possibilities!
4. 24/7/365 Global Convenience:
When you are sleeping your site is still up and running. When your customers are looking for information about you, your site is there. It never sleeps. When you are asleep someone else is awake and your website will be there for them.
5. Your Website is Mobile:
(If it’s not, it should be.) A site optimized for mobile devices will be able to reach people no matter what device they are using. They can be almost anywhere at anytime and still use your website.
6. Coordinates Your Web Presence:
A website can coordinate you web presence with a hub & spokes system. The website is the hub. Social media and email are the spokes for reach, a marketing campaign, or brand awareness.
7. Helps You Help Your Customers:
Keep customers informed. Gather Feedback. Improve customer service. These are all possible when you have a website.
8. A Place to Showcase Your Work:
It is a place where you can showcase your work. Use your own pictures. Use your own content. This is your space to showcase your work. This space should not belong to anyone but you.
9. People “Just Google It”:
If you don’t have a site, you are missing a chance for search engines to find you. These things will help your customers find you:
- search engine optimization (SEO)
- a mobile design
- quality content
10. No Provider Restrictions:
If you have your own domain you can host you site wherever you like. There are no “providers” to place restrictions on your website.
Bonus: Possible Secondary Income:
With your own website, on your own server space, could make a secondary income. You could rent your website space to advertisers after you build a fan base. Instead of working to build a fan base for someone else, you are building a fan base for your company and your products or services.
