Meet the Creator

Someone is going to wonder
where they come from.
I want these pages to be here when they do.

Why I Started Honor Sphere
I’m Stephanie, and I write from Atoka, in Tipton County, Tennessee. Honor Sphere began with a simple worry: the things worth keeping are the easiest to lose. A family recipe never gets written down. A story only one person remembers goes quiet. A building comes down before anyone records what happened inside it.
So I started writing down what I knew.

Written for the Next Generation
Every post here is meant for someone younger than me: my family’s children, the kids growing up in Atoka now, and anyone who wants to understand the place they came from.
I’m not trying to freeze the past in amber. I want to hand it forward in a form people can use, whether that’s a story to retell, a tradition to try, or a reason to look at their own town differently.

How I Handle History
Local history only matters if it’s accurate, so I try to show my sources. When I rely on memory or family lore, I say so. When I’m unsure, I say that too.
Preserving history is a shared responsibility, and there’s always more to learn.

A Little About Me
I’ve lived in or near Atoka, Tennessee, for most of my life. Although I attended school elsewhere, Atoka has always been home.
Part of my Revolutionary War ancestry can be traced through some of the early settlers and businesses in Atoka, Tennessee. So I have a little skin in the game.
My interest in local and family history was first sparked during the Atoka Homecoming ’86 Celebration. A relative who had been researching our family passed along a collection of information to me. Later, I became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and spent many years volunteering in support of its mission.

Walk Through It With Me
New stories go up here regularly, and some are also shared on Atoka General Store on Facebook.
